SAGA provides ongoing support to its adopters. Our Lost Dog Phone support is available 24/7 and we have access to state of the art Medical Advice with a Membership to one of the best Greyhound Medical Associations in North America. Adopters are welcome to contact us with any questions or concerns.

All greyhounds that are adopted through SAGA come with a collar and their personal SAGA Tag # with our Lost Dog Phone telephone number. This emergency telephone service is available 24/7 should your greyhound become lost.

SAGA also provides a Martingale leash, collar and muzzle set as well as the first years City of Calgary Dog License.

SAGA recommends that you purchase pet medical insurance for your adopted greyhound.

The Yogi Memorial Fund

Through the generosity of Dan Boileau and, in memory of his beloved SAGA Greyhound Yogi Bear, this fund was set-up to provide financial assistance to SAGA Greyhound owners whose Greyhounds have received a definitive diagnosis of Cancer and request financial assistance from this fund.

Before applying for this Fund we ask that everyone consider their financial need carefully.  The Fund is not large and we want to help those SAGA Greyhound owners that are in a tough spot financially. 

The fund will only reimburse costs for palliative care or active treatment and will not reimburse the costs of the diagnosis. 

NOTE:  SAGA defines the following:

1. diagnosis as all costs associated with the act or process of identifying or determining the nature and cause of the cancer through evaluation of the Greyhound’s history as well as the examination and review of laboratory data.  It also consists of the opinion derived from such an evaluation.
2. active treatment that directed immediately to the cure of the disease
3. palliative treatment treatment designed to relieve pain and distress with no attempt to cure.

The Yogi Memorial Fund will reimburse 10% of the costs for treatment of your Greyhounds’ Cancer up to a maximum of $400.00. 

To be eligible for consideration you must be the owner of record for your SAGA Greyhound and have adopted directly from SAGA.

SAGA will require copies of your vet receipts, we may need to communicate with your vet and not every application is guaranteed to be approved.

Animal Cancer Therapy Subsidization Society of Alberta (ACTSS)

In addition to SAGA's Yogi Memorial Fund the Animal Cancer Therapy Subsidization Society of Alberta may be able to help if your Greyhound has Cancer.  They provide subsidies to pet owners as well as education on the availability, uses and benefits of advanced cancer therapies in the treatment of veterinary cancers.
