Just
this side of Heaven is a place called
Rainbow Bridge
When an animal dies
that has been especially close
to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow
Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for
all of our special friends so they can
run and
play together. There is plenty
of food, water and sunshine, and our
friends are
warm and comfortable.
All the
animals who had been ill and
old are restored to
health and vigor. Those who were
hurt or maimed are made whole
and strong again,
just as we remember them in our
dreams of days and times gone
by. The animals
are happy and content, except
for one small thing; they each
miss someone very
special to them, who had to
be left behind.
They all run and
play together, but the day comes
when one
suddenly stops and looks into
the distance. His bright eyes are
intent. His eager
body quivers. Suddenly he begins
to run from the group, flying over
the green
grass, his legs carrying him
faster and faster.
You have been
spotted, and when you and your
special friend
finally meet, you cling together
in joyous reunion, never to be
parted again. The
happy kisses rain upon your face;
your hands again caress the beloved
head, and you look once more into the
trusting
eyes of your pet, so long gone
from your life but never absent
from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow
Bridge together.... Author unknown

Kim
April
16 1990 -
October 23, 2004
Carlie passed away this morning, with me as she always liked
to be. She had taken ill over the last few days, and succumbed this
morning. People who knew her, knew her spirit and vest for life. The
fact she had developed osteo in the spring did not stop her from continuing
her life of sleeping galloping around the yard and most of all eating.
She took a turn for the worse around 11 pm Oct 22, and passed away
about 6 hours later. She came to me as a GPI return at 11 1/2 years
of age and became my little princess. She could not make it through
the night so I was up with her at least once a night. In the last 3
months I carried her down the stairs, because of her osteo. Today was
her day and I knew it, I'll miss my SAGA princess and her barks.
Having a senior in my life opened my eyes to the wonders
of Greyhound adoption.
A candle will be lit in her memory tonight.

1992 - 2004
Our
beloved sweet Meri was
overcome by intestinal
cancer January 26, 2004
at 5:35pm. Meri had been
suffering for the past
month with some major
digestive problems trying
her best to fight it
off it took it's toll.
Meri lost 11 pounds in
one week, the cancer
had just taken over her
body. Meri will always
be remembered as a bright,
bouncy, bubbly girl...her
name suited her perfectly
- Meri Diem 'Happy Day'.
The
picture we've attached
shows you exactly what
I mean...what a smile!
Meri
is very lovingly remembered

London
November 05, 2003
A sad day
for SAGA in having to announce
the passing of one of our
goofy buddies London.
I have a special bond with this big goof, because I have the
joy of
babysitting them. My sympathies to Deb.
Light a candle in memory of London tonight...

DG's
THEODORE (Teddy)
Dec.
21, 1999 - Feb. 6,
2006
When we first starting
hanging
around PetSmart two years ago, we
had no
idea that
we'd end up with two hairy beasts
in our
life, one
being Teddy, the other
being Mark Abrams, but we are eternally
grateful
for them both. While our time with
Teddy
was cut
short by TBDs, we couldn't have asked
for a more perfect
dog to spend the last 17 months with.
Teddy
was an 85lb love bug (as Nina would call
him).
He filled
our tiny car, our home and our lives
with much
love, laughter and memories that
we will
cherish for
the rest of our lives.
While we're sad that Teddy will never
officially
get
to compete in a longest
tail competition (which
he would've won paws
down) we will remember
his full
body stretches, love
bites and how he'd rub his face
on whatever part
of you was available
to show you
that he loved you. We have
no regrets for falling
in love with the skinniest
patchiest dog there was,
(we could clearly see his
beauty through the fleas)
and we wouldn't trade our
experience for anything.
We are devastated by the
loss of our big goofy brindle
boy, but we know that we
have the support of our
friends and family (SAGA
and otherwise) and that
Teddy has gone to a much
happier place.

Hampton
Hampton
Delight
July 6 1998 - June 10 2005
This
is such a terrible time
for me to express how
I feel about the loss
of my beloved Hampton.
He took away the lonliness
that I had endured for
so long. He passing was
so sudden, my grief is
inconsolable. He was
the best thing that ever
came into my life. He
made my life bearable
under some of the worst
times. He was so very
sweet. There are many,
many tears from all of
those who knew him. The
only comfort I have is
knowing that when my
time comes I will see
him again. I love you
Hampton and I will miss
you every minute that
you're gone. Thank you
Nancy and Mark for being
so understandable in
my time of saddness.

Q
November
23, 2005
Q,
although not a Greyhound
was the guardian
of all SAGA's Greyhounds
and a honorary Greyhound
by all who met her.
She happily welcomed
over 200 Greyhounds
into her yard and
her domain. She even
tolerated the brash
Juana Finklestein,
who at points thought
Q was her play thing.
I adopted Q, 8 years ago after she was abandoned. She loved being
amongst the greyhounds and was always happy to saunter with Spike and
Tracker.
During her life she loved all the people who met her, especially
females. She will be missed by her pack, Spikey, Tracker, Lonesome,
Raven, Juana and Abell. The Abrams Choir has lost its hairy
Alto Greyhound.

Mint
Kiowa
Mint
Dec. 3 1993 - Aug. 3 2004
I'm
saddened to announce
the passing of Kiowa
Mint, one of the first
greyhounds SAGA brought
to Calgary, she passed
away today August 3,
from the effects of
Mint was very special to me personally, as the day she arrived.
We worried about the effects of the trip from Kansas to Calgary. She
took some time to recover, but became the beautiful companion greyhound
and gentle lover of hugs and kisses.
I thank Neil and Shelley for their love and caring for her and
and the companionship of Rosie over the last year.
Seeing her bright toothless face and her wagging tail always
set my mind at ease.
I'll have a candle lit for her tonight.
I'll miss her...........

JNW
Playgirl (Sophie)
Nov. 1, 2006
It
is with great sadness
I have
to announce that
my beautiful
black brindle girl,
Sophie,
has died. She was
my first greyhound
and was so shy,
it took a long
time to coax
her out of her
shell. It
quickly became
evident she
was lonesome so
I acquired her
pal Fred. The two
were
inseparable and
loved hanging out
although Sophie
was clearly
the boss (still
waters run deep).
Sophie had
a full
racing career
and could easily
outrace Fred, much
to his
frustration.
She was very quiet – I
only ever heard her bark once
at the
lawnmower which
was apparently a lot of fun(?!)
She loved
her “baby” – her
stuffed white
seal toy which was a gift
from her foster
mom – and she wouldn’t
let Fred play
with it. She came to me at
5½ years
old and was only
with me for 18 months, but
she made
her mark in my
heart. I’ll
miss snuggling
on the bed with her watching
TV and
even picking
the odd toy off the ceiling
fan (tossed
there in one
of her less inhibited moments).
I know
she’s somewhere lying
stretched out
on a pillow,
waiting for the
rest of us. Thank
you to Mark for
his advice and
guidance on her
illness. I wish
we could have
figured it out.

Frannie
October 3, 1993 – August 28, 2006
It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of our beloved,
beautiful Frannie.
She was a blessing in our lives, and brought us so much joy, laughter and
happiness.
She loved getting attention from everyone and thought everyone existed just
to stroke her.
Her spirit will be with us forever and I know she will be waiting across the
Rainbow Bridge.
